Until today, I had never been to the annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House, but I’m so glad I went. Now in its forty-third year, the show house is an opportunity for top interior designers to completely transform a Manhattan home, both to showcase their talents and to support a good cause: the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club.
This year’s show house, open through this Thursday, June 11, is the Arthur Sachs Mansion at 58 East 66th Street. A gorgeous Beaux-Arts townhouse completed in 1909 for Arthur Sachs (of Goldman Sachs fame), the five-story home would be breathtaking if empty (example A: the spiraling oval staircase), but in the hands of these designers, it’s become truly one of a kind.
I couldn’t resist sharing a few of my favorite rooms and details. Take a peek!
